OZONE
DESCRIPTION
Fidia Engineering proposes ozone treatment systems for applications in the disinfection of drinking water, both for its rapid ability to destroy the bacteria, but especially for its great effectiveness in killing viruses, as well as for its ability to discoloration and elimination of unpleasant odors and tastes. Ozone is an allotropic form of oxygen: an highly unstable gas that, once the product breaks down into oxygen at molecular form and nascent state, it is characterized by high oxidizing capacity, which is expressed in an effective action for breaking many complex organic molecules into simpler ones. Given its unstable form, it is produced on site, by passing air in special ozonators. The mixture of air, enriched in ozone, is then blown into the slurry to be treated.
About the drinking water’s disinfection, compared to the conventional chlorine processes, ozone's processes are characterized by greater virulicidal capacity, low production of secondary reactions that produce health's dangerous compounds, reduced contact time and therefore absence of large tanks, none residues harmful to aquatic life and effective bleaching action.
